McCreery Celebrates Album Release in Hometown of Garner, NC

Lead Single “You Time” Continues Climbing the Top 5 at No. 4

NASHVILLE, Tenn. –  As lead single “You Time” continues to climb the charts at Country radio at No. 4, Triple Tigers recording artist Scotty McCreery releases his fifth studio album Same Truck featuring 12 songs, 10 of which were co-written by the multi-Platinum selling singer-songwriter. Listen to the full album HERE.

After getting his start in the music industry ten years ago, the now 27-year-old happily married man and veteran performer shares, “For the first time in 10 years, I was home more than a few days at a time. I loved having the extra time with my wife, Gabi, and our dog, Moose, however it also gave me a lot of time to pick up the guitar and just play for fun.

“I wound up writing a bunch of new songs and creating almost a whole new album from the perspective of reflecting on my last decade yet also keeping an eye towards where I want to go,” McCreery adds.

With that viewpoint, the Garner, North Carolina native expands his catalog with several songs that showcase the tender romance and deep love between him and his wife Gabi, whether it’s the true story of one of the couple’s recent date nights recounted in the fun and upbeat “Why You Gotta Be Like That” or the sultry “That Kind of Fire,” their love story permeates the project.

“I knew a long time ago, that Gabi was the one,” says McCreery with a smile. “Ever since I wrote ‘See You Tonight’ for my second album, she has been the face that I see in my mind when I write.”

An avid man of faith, McCreery also taps into his devotion with tracks like “How Ya Doin’ Up There,” a fitting closing track to the album that asks the question, “What if prayers weren’t all about us, but stopping to ask the Lord how His day’s going and how He’s doing?” and “The Waiter,” a story of loss and enduring love that he co-wrote with Matthew West and Frank Rogers in 2015 but never quite felt appropriate for his previous albums.

“‘The Waiter’ was an idea that Matthew had; he was walking in a park one day and saw this guy talking to himself. Matthew thought maybe the guy was crazy, however when he walked by him, he realized that was not the case: the man was praying,” McCreery shares. “It’s no coincidence that this song has resurfaced the way it has given the year we’ve all just had.

“If this album can help someone have the same moments I did where we just see things through a slightly different lens, I think Same Truck will do what I hope it will, and that’s bring us all together,” McCreery concludes.

Released earlier this week and already a fan favorite that is earmarked to be the upcoming second single from the album, McCreery will perform “Damn Strait” on NBC’s “TODAY” on Tuesday, Sept. 21 during the third hour of the show. Written by Trent Tomlinson and Jim Collins, “Damn Strait” cannily honors country music icon George Strait, even as the singer bemoans the loss of his lover, associating Strait’s songs with her since they were the couple’s favorites.

McCreery will be in Garner, North Carolina today to celebrate the release of Same Truck in his hometown. He’ll give an acoustic performance and sign CDs at one of his favorite local hangouts, the Aversboro Restaurant and Sports Bar at 12-noon. Later that evening he will perform and sign CDs at the annual Greatness of Garner event at South Garner High School between 5-7 PM, which is followed by the football game between South Garner High School and McCreery’s alma mater, Garner Magnet High School.

Next Wednesday, Sept. 22, McCreery will be back in Raleigh, NC for an in-store signing session at the independent record store Schoolkids Records from 5:30-7:30 PM. Masks are required to enter the store, and the signing will only be for copies of Same Truck purchased at the store that evening.

It was announced earlier this week that McCreery will be performing at C2C (Country 2 Country) in Dublin, London, and Glasgow on March 11-13, 2022, alongside Darius Rucker, Brett Young, and more. This will be McCreery’s C2C debut.

Same Truck was produced by Frank Rogers, Derek Wells and Aaron Eshuis, the team who produced his previous project, the RIAA Gold certified Seasons Change that was released in 2018 and has sold more than 700,000 copies to date, debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart, and contained three consecutive No. 1 hits: the Double RIAA Platinum certified “Five More Minutes,” Platinum certified “This is It,” and Gold certified “In Between.” McCreery co-wrote every song on that album.

In the midst of his You Time Tour, McCreery has been performing several songs from the new album in concert. “You never know how new songs are going to go over in the live show, but our audiences sure seem to enjoy them from the reaction we’re receiving. Now we’re excited to hear fans sing along,” said the North Carolina native. He’s also been direct support on select tour dates with Old Dominion.
