Exclusive Premiere: Alecia Nugent’s “I Might Have One Too”

It’s been 10-years since Alecia Nugent put her career on pause to turn attention to her family in Louisiana. During that decade, the IBMA and SPBGMA award-winner faced highs and unexpected lows, dealing with loss in extremes: a newly single-mom raising her daughters, the bitter-sweet goodbye as they left the nest to live their own lives, and a mournful goodbye to her father after a battle with cancer. Nugent was also confronted with the pain a mother feels when seeing one of her daughters grieve over the passing of her 21-year old boyfriend who was killed in an accident.

Nugent has been able to heal and grow as time has its way of healing, but so does music. Her emotions and experiences of the past 10 years are expressed and felt in her upcoming album THE OLD SIDE OF TOWN, available this Friday, September 18th. Nugent co-wrote half of the 10-tracks that share deep stories with vivid lyrics, bringing the listener right into these moments with her.  One song in particular that hits you immediately is the album’s second track “I Might Have One Toopremiering today with The Country Note.

Watch an exclusive Behind the Song interview with Alecia Nugent
as she discusses “I Might Have One Too” and how it came to be on her album:

The tried-and-true country tune centers on a partner’s confession of an affair – something that has obviously weighed on his mind as he involuntarily shakes during his admission – and what can be perceived as a collected reaction by the woman (for the moment anyway). Each verse and chorus ends with the words of the title, but meaning something different each time.
