With a lyrical hook that hits right in the gut, this piano and string-driven, Adele-meets-country ballad is the ultimate sad-girl song. Unlike many female country songs, “She Said Yes” is about regret rather than revenge. The melody, along with Arthur’s passionate delivery would make any listener feel the pain of letting the wrong person go.

She Said Yes” opens with Arthur’s plaintive and distinct vocal accompanied by synth and piano and builds with delicate electric guitar underpinning as she narrates the story of her pain and regret.

I can see the ring the dress the smile
and I can see you
white petals on the aisle
Something borrowed something blue
the first kiss
the first dance
Her happiness is all because
I missed my chance

The intensity builds as the sadness in her voice emotes the painful realization of the mistake she’s made.

Why didn’t I
see everything I had
why did it take you loving her
For me to love you back
she’s only holding you
because I let you go
She said yes
Cause I said no

“‘She Said Yes’ is undoubtedly a sad song,” says Arthur. “I remember when I was younger and going through a hard time, the last thing I wanted to listen to was a happy song. I wanted something to cry to and sing at the top of my lungs going down the road. That was therapeutic for me. I hope it’s therapeutic for anyone going through this type of heartache.”

“I wrote this song with Jordan Rainer the very first day we met,” Arthur recalls. “We worked on a different song for about an hour until I got to my idea for the bridge. At that point Jordan said, ‘I’m sorry but that is so strong that it needs to be our main hook.’ So, we went back and re-wrote most of the song and that’s how it became what it is today. Not many people would have the patience and dedication to go back and re-work a song like Jordan. You never know how one idea can spark another.”

“She Said Yes” is just one example of Arthur’s lifetime of refining and honing her craft. As a daughter of the South steeped in family ties, tradition, and truthfulness, Arthur’s music is reflective of who she is and exemplifies her way of life. Originally from East Tennessee, she started singing to her family when she was four years old. She began performing at Dollywood when she was eight, portraying one of her musical heroes, a young Dolly Parton. And she’s never looked back. From that time and thousands of shows later, she has had the opportunity to be a guest on The Today Show, The Kelly & Michael Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Access Hollywood, and Today in Nashville.

With credentials that include bucket-list recorded collaborations with her childhood idol, Dolly, and Vince Gill, to multiple appearances on the world-famous Grand Ole Opry, Arthur’s star has steadily risen. And with exceptional talent like hers, one can expect that she will continue to shine brightly.
