Dallas Burrow Refines His Approach To Music And Life With New Album Blood Brothers

Jonathan Tyler-produced LP out now via Soundly Music;
Burrow plays Austin’s Saxon Pub tonight before lengthy summer tour

“His most fully realized and consistently accessible work.” – No Depression

New Braunfels, TX – With his brand new LP Blood Brothers, Dallas Burrow wanted to chase something a little more refined and a little more polished than his previous two in-the-moment sounding efforts, Southern Wind and Dallas Burrow. With the creative vision and technical talent of producer Jonathan Tyler, Burrow took everything he’d learned from the last two album cycles, plus a lot more experience on tour, and brought a new outlook—not to mention what he calls “some of the best songs I’ve ever written”—into the recording studio, crafting his best work to date.

Out now via Soundly Music, Blood Brothers finds the pair of Burrow and Tyler chasing down new tones influenced by everything from Stax to Muscle Shoals to New Orleans, but lyrically, Burrow’s journey through his own history and influences steals the show. “The songs on Blood Brothers tell about where I’m from, where I’ve been, what I’ve done, and what I’ve seen,” says Burrow. “They tell of life, death, love, faith, youthful rebellion, finding acceptance, the state of the world, as well as the story of my father and his connection to Townes Van Zandt, and how that has helped shape my own musical journey, my dedication to family, and approach to life in general.”

Fans can now stream or purchase Blood Brothers in its entirety at this link and check out the official music videos for “Only Game In Town,” “Starry Eyes” and “Out My Window” at their respective links. Burrow will take the stage tonight at Austin’s famed Saxon Pub before taking his lively show on the road all summer long, including a stop in Nashville for AmericanaFest this September. Blood Brothers In The News:

No Depression wrote, “He strikes that oh-so marketable balance: the headliner who’s decidedly noncorporate, the hometown hero who’s still humble, and the guy on the adjacent barstool who’s a little rough around the edges, but in all the right ways.”

Brooklyn Vegan premiered the video for “Only Game In Town,” which Burrow filmed at Willie Nelson’s ranch after he performed at Luck Reunion this past March. He co-wrote the tune with fellow Texan Charley Crockett, who put the song on his 2021 album Music City USA.

Holler. premiered the “Out My Window” music video, writing, “With a Wurlitzer wheezing away over the crisp country funk rhythm section, ‘Out My Window’ sounds like it could have come crawling out of 3614 Jackson Highway in Muscle Shoals in the early hours of any morning during the mid-70s.”

The Austin Chronicle said, “Burrow continues to prove himself one of Texas’ most compelling young artists, with each LP unlocking surprising new facets of his songwriting.”

In their review of the album, Glide Magazine noted, “There is a timelessness to the songs here that are bound to age well in the decades to come.”

The Amp wrote, “Dallas has delivered an album not only worthy of your time and attention, but worth sharing with other music lovers. It’s time the world listens to what Dallas Burrow has to say.”

Wide Open Country shared a first listen of “Starry Eyes,” saying, “Among tributes to both his dad (a recording of the Mike Burrow’s song ‘X Old Flames’) and Townes Van Zandt (a cover of ‘Mr. Mudd and Mr. Gold’), Dallas shares his own stunning lyricism on ‘Starry Eyes.’”

Entertainment Focus argued that this album is “his best work to date.”

The Bluegrass Situation premiered Blood Brothers’ lead-off single, “River Town.”

CBS Austin highlighted Burrow and “Starry Eyes” on this week’s Music Monday segment.

Burrow stopped by FOX 7 Austin‘s studio earlier this week for a special performance of “River Town.”
