Written by veteran songwriters Rhett Atkins and Ben Hayslip, “Mind Reader” tells the story of a woman who’s locked in her new man by what seems to be reading his mind as she knows exactly what, where, and how to get his full attention.
In addition to very direct lyrics (How’d you know what I was about to say /How’d you know to whisper in my ear / Let’s take this party back to my place), Lynch’s vocals along with the smooth slides of the steel guitar add to the heat of the song – leading to the mid-tempo chorus:
