Sam Hunt Not Missing a Beat with New Single “Make You Miss Me”

Sam Hunt, who made his presence known with a slew of #1 hits, has just released his 5th single from his Grammy & Billboard Nominated , Montevallo and it’s not missing any beats.

A closer resemblance to debut single “Leave the Light On” in style, rather than the multi genre enlaced songs he’s released before, it relies heavily on piano and soft drum beats, a soft female harmony in the background adding to its country/jazzy vibe.

Centering on a woman who seems to be ever changing her mind, whether it’s relationships or songs she likes, but there’s a guy for her that feels that he has what it takes to keep her from leaving with clever writing (When your phone rings after midnight and you’re thinking maybe it’s me,  I’m gonna make you miss me) by Hunt, Josh Osborne, & Matthew Ramsey.  Hunt’s voice blends beautifully with his background singer and allow the words of the song to resonate it’s meaning throughout.  Although there’s less “talk style” singing that we’ve heard before (Take Your Time) there is a part where the 2 voices get more emotional, making the point that this girl will find it hard changing her mind

Cause you can’t fall asleep and you’re wishing you were with me
I’m gonna make you miss me
Make you miss me
Make you miss the way my hand felt in your hand
while you’re dialing my number listening to my favorite band

The song is wonderfully written and the rhythm, vocals, and overall production are further attributes to Hunt’s creativity. Hunt has shown in the past that he has staying power, even though his style of writing and performing were a bit off from the traditional Country sound – along with songwriting credits for hit songs released by Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban, Hunt secured his place in the country world.

Released in March, “Make You Miss Me” is sitting comfortably on all charts and is available on Hunt’s 2014 debut album Montevallo.
