Luke Combs has been on a steadfast track of releasing well-written, well-produced songs that have placed the 29 year old as being the first artist to top all 5 Billboard country charts for multiple weeks as well as his tune “Beautiful Crazy” spending 7 weeks at No. 1.  He has now released his newest single “Beer Never Broke My Heart” (5/13) as the first off a new five track EP The Prequel to be released on June 7, which has Combs as a co-writer on each track.

First introduced during an acoustic performance then on a live stream from his Facebook page, “Beer Never Broke My Heart” is premised on the concept that beer is the only thing he knows wont hurt him.

With an amped up start, the song begins with Luke describing things that have let him down with his husky country twang:

I’ve had a largemouth bass bust my line
A couple beautiful girls tell me goodbye
Trucks break down, dogs run off

… then kicks his vocals up an octave for the chorus:

Long neck ice cold beer never broke my heart
Like diamond rings and football teams have torn this boy apart
Like a neon dream, it just dawned on me that bars and guitars
And a long neck ice cold beer never broke my heart

… professing his trust in the beverage.

“Beer Never Broke My Heart” comes on the heels a tour of the same name that has met equal success with 25 of the 29 venues selling out in the first week.  A music video for the track was released as well, check it out below:
