Jake Owen Releases Song of the Summer with Nostalgic “I Was Jack (You Were Diane)”

Big Loud Recording artist Jake Owen recently announced that not only is he going on tour in 2018, but that he has a brand new single. “I Was Jack (You Were Diane)” may have a very familiar ring to it, but don’t fret  – John Mellencamp is in support of Jake’s new single.

“I Was Jack (You Were Diane)” is the nostalgic song of summer; two young kids falling in love and singing along to their favorite songs, all while being carefree. Fast forward to when you hear the song now. Does it make you think of the moments you spent together and the songs you used to sing as one? It’s the good ole days of being Jack and Diane, and listening to those songs makes you sing as if no time has passed.

Do you close your eyes
Does it make you laugh
Do the memories take you back
Six packs and a Chevy Cheyenne
Way back
When I was Jack and you were Diane

Jake’s single puts a new twist on a classic song. Right from the introduction you hear that familiar beat we all know so well from Mellencamp’s “Jack and Diane” and the sentiment sets in immediately, but Jake keeps it fresh with his own perspective and signature, distinctive voice. “I Was Jack (You Were Diane)” is easy-going and lively, while keeping the sound authentic. Jake has created the song to blast in your car with the windows down as you are cruising down the highway!

You can catch Jake Owen on his “Life’s Whatcha Make It” Tour with Chris Janson and Jordan Davis this summer. For a list of tour dates visit https://jakeowen.net/events. “I Was Jack (You Were Diane) is available where all digital music is sold.
