Drew Baldridge Makes It Known He’s No “Rebound” In New Single

You and your significant other break up. Your ex moves on, and when they break up, your ex comes running back to you, trying to snuggle (literally and figuratively) back into your life.  Sound familiar? If it does, then Drew Baldridge’s new single “Rebound” is your fight song.

Following his up-beat, fun single “Dance With Ya,” Baldridge makes a 180-degree spin with “Rebound,” a raw song that was inspired by an actual breakup.  The lyrics are to the point as he calls out his ex, knowing exactly what she’s up to:

You’re playing it cool with the sweet talk on your lips
But I ain’t a fool
Yeah, I know what this is
Now that he’s gone you want to get in my car
Wanna steal my sheets, go a little too far
You’re wrong if you think you can dip out
like you did and say you’re over him
I ain’t your rebound

Joining Baldridge vocally as well as in the music video is Emily Weisband, who co-wrote the song with Baldridge and Simone Simonton, portraying the conniving ex as she sings in response. For example, following the verse posted above, Weisband replies:

Just give me one night,
I’ll show you why,
It’s different this time

The song, which leans heavy on drums and electric guitar, includes a guitar solo about three-quarters in, adding not only a hard-rock edge but also a colder, confident vibe stressing Baldridge’s point home that he’s no pushover. (To contrast, if the song was performed acoustically on guitar it could come off as more sensitive.)

“Rebound” is Baldridge’s second single off of his debut studio album Dirt On Us.
