In a time of turmoil, between the COVID pandemic and endless hatred for authorities, folks oftentimes don’t take the time to reflect on the wonderment of miracle strength and hope that can be sometimes forgotten. Country crooner Chris Young takes that step in his new single, stopping to ponder “If That Ain’t God” creating these miracles, then who is?

This bittersweet tune, written by Matt Roy, Mitchell Oglesby, and Greylan James was first played as a tease which quickly had fans chomping at the bit for more, even requesting it as his next single, the third released so far off his unnamed eighth studio album.

The song starts with subtle instrumentation, which has Young reminiscing of a morning routine:

I ain’t never thought much of getting up
Or the climb down the stairs to my coffee cup
Or the good morning news in the background

Only to hear the story of a young boys fight with cancer, earning his first home run, and his gratitude to the Almighty making him wonder:

If that ain’t God, if that ain’t him
If that the man upstairs somewhere looking down on us again
Don’t it make you wanna pray, don’t it make you wanna live
Oh, if that ain’t God, if that ain’t God
I don’t know what is

The creative lyrics causes one to reflect on His powers and focus on the positive, making this tune one of hope and reassurance of his existence.  The bridge is a production masterpiece with an anthemic, choir-like performance, that will leave you with the feeling of being in a Sunday service.

“If That Ain’t God” is a refreshing song filled with a powerful message; slow down, take time, and enjoy his grace.

  1. I lost my daughter Kaylee at 11. She was hit and killed. Your song Drowning is how I feel everyday since she left. She was an amazing girl, my first born and my best friend.
