Five Reasons Why We Love Kacey Musgraves

Source: UMG

She’s the songwriter that somehow knows what everyone is feeling. Her lyrics are brutally honest, at times controversial and yet her music is unconventionally traditional. After two chart- topping albums, Kacey Musgraves is gearing up for the release of her first Christmas album, A Very Kacey Christmas (which we cannot wait to hear). Our #WCW has carved out a huge spot for herself in the industry and we don’t see her slowing down anytime soon.

1. She’s unapologetically herself: As Kacey Musgraves so eloquently says herself, she follows her own arrow. From her song lyrics about marijuana and same-sex love to her bedazzled and neon sets, there is nothing unoriginal about this lady. She may not be pageant material, but we love what she’s doing.

2. Her major #squadgoals:
After “tomato-gate” Musgraves has been group together with some pretty bad-ass women. She’s constantly representing the unheard voices of country music next to others like Maren Morris, Cam, Aubrey Sellers and Margo Price.

3. Her sense of style: How can someone with her own Lucchese boot line not be a style icon? Her retro-chic cowgirl outfits make us wish we were living back in the wild west.

Don’t get us started on that custom red Stetson cowgirl hat she donned at the second annual Pilgrimage Festival this year.

4. She interacts with her fans: Social media plays a huge role in how fans interact with their favorite musicians. It’s sad to see when some artists are hands-off when it comes to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Musgraves on the other hand is very active and is great about not only post frequently, but also retweeting, commenting and talking to her fans on all the platforms, as well.

5. She remembers her roots: Speaking of social media, her Twitter bio reads Texas Forever. She may have moved to Nashville and become a big star, but Musgraves is proud of the small Texas town she calls home. Similar to our first point, her background is made her who she is today and she isn’t afraid to show that to the world. It all adds up in making her the great songwriter and performer she is today.

Thanks for the shirt, Nana.
