Five Reasons Why We Love Jon Pardi

Jon Pardi isn’t new to town but his sophomore album, California Sunrise, sure made a name for him. He sold out venues all over the country this summer and is headed out on tour with Kip Moore this fall. His song “Dirt on my Boots” is featured in the trailer for the Netflix series The Ranch, starring Ashton Kutcher. But his hit single “Head Over Boots” tugs at everyone’s heart strings just right, making him this week’s #MCM.

1. Kicking it Old School: He’s bringing back some old-school charm to contemporary music. John Pardi is unapologetically traditional. When he arrived in Nashville at 19, he was taken under the wing of song-writer Brice Long, who told him “Just keep doing what you’re doing, don’t worry about everyone else.” With all the pop-crossover and modern versions of country music being spun on the radios, it’s refreshing to hear someone take us back to the roots.

2. He Pardi’s Right: His last name may sound like party, but Jon told Rolling Stone Magazine he knows how to drink responsibly. He even won a song writing contest in college, which challenged musicians to write on the topic of denouncing DUI’s. He admits it was a bit ironic listening to “The D.U.I Song” with it’s honkey tonk, rowdy country style. At least he got the point across and won $300!

3. Stands Up for History: His “Head Over Boots” video was shot in the Twin Sisters Dance Hall in Blanco, Texas. The historic dance hall was built in 1879 and is one of the oldest remaining establishments of its kind. It still holds its monthly Saturday night public dances, but is in desperate need for repairs or it may be forced to shut down. However, Jon is trying to stop that from happening and is selling limited edition Head Over Boots T-shirts to raise money for a new roof for Twin Sisters.

4. Quite the Comedian: He has a great sense of humor and isn’t afraid to get a little silly. He and Kip Moore got together to promote their upcoming Me and My Kind Tour and recorded a video that literally shows us scenes from their favorite movies. Thanks for the laugh, but stick to your day jobs boys!

5. He’s the New King: One look at the sweet baby face of his and you’ll think he should be singing “Jail House Rock” or “Heartbreak Hotel”. Jon has a striking resemblance to Elvis and there no denying he’s easy on the eyes.
