With a desire to take the stage since childhood, Tyler Reese Tritt‘s love for music is as deeply rooted as her musical family tree. Building on that passion with the advice from her country music legend father Travis Tritt, the support of her brothers Tristan and Tarian, and love from her mother, Tyler Reese Tritt is ready to establish her mark in country music.

We recently caught up with Tyler to chat about her musical journey with her incredibly talented family, her latest single and what’s to come in 2024.

CN: For our readers who may not be familiar with you, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

TRT: I’m a singer songwriter. I absolutely love to sing and be on stage performing its best feeling ever! I’m very outgoing and love being outdoors! And I love my friends, family, and fur babies very much!

CN: Coming from such an iconic country music family, how and when did you know that you too were going to pursue music?  Did you have any other interest that you might have thought could have been a career path?

TRT: I knew pretty early on that I wanted to pursue music. We would occasionally go on the road with dad, and one of the times we were out with him I was about seven or eight and instead of running around playing backstage I remember just stopping and watching him and thinking to myself how much fun he was having and I just remember knowing right then and there how bad I wanted to be out there doing the same thing.

CN: What was the first song you can remember singing?

TRT: My dad introduced us to all the old classic Disney movies because my mom was not a fan of cartoons and the little mermaid was my all-time favorite, so I would sing “Part of Your World” on repeat around the house.

CN: How influential has your father, Travis Tritt, been in your musical journey? What is one bit of advice that he has shared with you that you return to?

TRT: I’d say he’s been very influential. He introduced me to all the old-school legendary country artists who I’ve fallen in love with and learned so much from and he has taught me so much about the history of country music. Which I greatly appreciate. Dad’s given me so much great advice, but one of his tidbits that helps me the most whenever I’m nervous is to psych myself out and tell myself I’m the best at what I do nobody can be better than me out on that stage even if it’s not true, I tell myself that over and over again and hype myself up and that’s proven to be very helpful in a lot of situations.

CN: Which other artists have influenced you both personally and as an artist?

TRT: So many I can’t even begin to count Reba, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert, Adele, Jo Dee Messina, Shania Twain, Gretchen Wilson, Trisha Yearwood, Linda Ronstadt, LeAnn Rimes the list truly goes on and on!

CN: Last year, you released your latest single “Texas Hold Him” co-written by Jaida Dreyer and Melissa Peirce.  Your vocals bring an emotion to the lyrics, and the song flows so naturally. What was it about this track that you knew you had to record it?

TRT: I was just leaving Texas after visiting my ex trying to see if Sparks were still flying after a couple years of being split up and I was going through this big batch of songs that Jaida had sent me and “Texas Hold Him” popped up and I listened to the lyrics and it was literally describing everything that I was feeling at that moment almost like I had written it myself. And I just knew I had to cut it.

CN: Can you take us through your songwriting process?

TRT: I’m such a lyricist. I love lyrics and coming up with new lyrics and hooks. Where my weak spot is, is the melody because I usually have whatever the last song I was listening to playing in my head, and no matter what I do somehow the song that I end up writing ends up sounding like the last song I was listening to. But in a co-write we usually come up with or somebody already has an idea or a catchy hook, and then we just start writing and jamming and see what comes out.

CN: Do you often pull inspiration from personal events in your life when writing?

TRT: Oh, all the time because for me I love when I can relate to a song on a real personal level, so what’s more personal than writing from my own experiences and life events.

CN: Do you remember the first song you ever wrote?

TRT: I was in middle school and it was so terrible I’m cringing just thinking about it. I wrote it in my notebook and of course it was about my little crush at the time and it just was so dramatic and made no sense but I guess it was how I felt. That song will definitely never see the light of day lol

CN: Over the years you have opened for many artists. If you could collaborate with any one artist, who would it be?

TRT: Probably Carrie Underwood or Reba

CN: If you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be and why?

TRT: I would say I’m pretty Vivacious because I’m outgoing, funny, and loving.

CN: Now that 2023 is in the rearview mirror, what was your favorite moment of the past year?

TRT: There were so many amazing moments it would be impossible to pick just one!

CN: What’s on the horizon for you in 2024?

TRT: A whole lot of new music, new tour date locations, and whatever else the good Lord seems fit to throw my way but I’m definitely excited for this upcoming year we got a lot of fun stuff cooking up and I can’t wait!!
