LEXINGTON, Ky. – Folksinger Michael Johnathon is calling his WoodSongs Old Time Radio Hour community into action to participate in a newly-created Tornado Relief program which will replace damaged or lost musical instruments for FREE for any person or organization affected by the recent tornados which devastated communities throughout Kentucky, Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri and Tennessee.

In an emotional plea from his YouTube channel, Johnathon explained the reason for the program’s creation, and the immediate need for restoring hope to those affected through music and art.

“By now we are all aware of the devastation our neighbors endured because of the massive tornado over the weekend,” said Johnathon. “So many have reached out asking if there is a way they can safely help out. Whether you live in Kentucky, across America or around the world, you are needed right now by the people who lost loved ones, livelihoods, homes and more.”

Currier’s Music World in Richmond, Kentucky is accepting, storing and restoring all donated musical instruments for the program. The shop’s Co-owner, Cathy Currier, is helping to coordinate Johnathon’s effort from her family-owned music shop which first opened in 1967 along Richmond’s Main Street.

“I believe that love is the greatest transaction of the arts, it drives everything we do, everything we create and everything we feel,” Johnathon continued. “This is a time to put our politics, opinions and divisions aside and be loving neighbors to those in real, actual need. We made a donation, so I hope you will, too.”

WoodSongs is a 501c(3) non-profit association based in Lexington, Kentucky.
