National TV Performance Debut Of Viral Single, “Best Parts Of Me”
Hoda Kotb & Jenna Bush Rallied To Make The Song A No. 1 Hit
NEW ORLEANS, LA — Viral sensation WILL DEMPSEY made his National TV debut on NBC’s TODAY With Hoda & Jenna on Tuesday, February 16 in the 10 o’clock hour. The rising star chatted with hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager about the song before giving a virtual performance of the track.
“I got back into writing songs about two or three years ago and when I did, I wanted it to be a special one, you know,” Dempsey explained to Kotb And Bush. “so I figured she was my first child and she changed my life in so many ways so I wanted to write something for her so she always knew how much I loved her and even if something happens to me, she could always go back to that song and just know how I felt about her, forever.”
Dempsey shared that listeners are truly connecting with his self-penned music, especially with this emotional track about his daughter.
“People really identify with this song a lot, I mean I get so many messages from people and they just love it. I mean grown men message me all the time and tell me how much they cried when they hear this song, which is great as a songwriter.”
Along with the interview, the singer also performed a stripped down rendition of the viral single that he wrote about his daughter entitled “Best Parts Of Me,” live from his Louisiana home. You can watch his TODAY Show performance below:
Following Dempsey’s performance, Kotb and Bush Hager rallied to make his single a No. 1 hit.
“You just nailed your first TODAY show concert,” Kotb gushed while tears flooded down her cheeks. “And I’m saying your first…” Bush Hager then adding, “first of many.”
“You guys, let’s take that song to No. 1 on the country charts,” Bush Hager said before Kotb replied, “Yeah, we like No. 2 but we’re here to bump it up.”
Inspired by his daughter, Isabella, the track perfectly encapsulates the special daddy/daughter bond that he shares with his daughter while letting her know that he will always be there for her no matter what and detailing his endless love for her.
Dempsey went viral when he shared a video clip of his daughter reacting to the song in late December 2020 on TikTok, which quickly went on to amass millions of views and has caught the attention of Access Hollywood, Oprah Magazine, UpWorthy, Country Now as well as a number of high-profile celebrities, including actor Channing Tatum, Mario Lopez and UFC President Dana White.
Hot on the heels of his viral debut single “Best Parts Of Me,” Will Dempsey has released a brand new “arena-ready” (Country Now) track, “Mississippi Mud,” inspired by his 2019 trip to Music City. The song is available now on all streaming platforms. The self-penned track was produced by Matt McQueen and David Caplinger and finds Dempsey paying tribute to his hometown, on the banks of the Mississippi River, in a small town just outside of New Orleans in South Louisiana, while also staying true to himself and following his dreams.
