A Breathtaking Introduction to One of Nashville’s Need-To-Know Singer/Songwriters
NASHVILLE, TN – Award-winning singer/songwriter Tori Tullier announces the release of her debut EP, Baby Steps. The project features six songs solely written by Tullier, affirming her as one of the next need-to-know singer/songwriters to come out of Nashville. Crystal clear vocals, emotive lyrics, and a warm mixture of piano and acoustic guitar-driven songs, Baby Steps is a breathtaking introduction.
The project begins with “Things I Won’t Forget,” a visual and poignant take on a breakup, with an ear-catching combo of fragmented banjo, sweeping cello, and driving acoustics. “Songbird” is another highlight, an inspiring message to continue on with a soaring chorus melody and meaningful lyrics. The final track is a deep breath. “Baby Steps” brings it home with themes of comfort and healing, the perfect capstone.
A classic Nashville story; after a decade of writing for other artists, Tullier sequestered during quarantine to write by herself and get back to basics.. In a ten-year town she is 11 years in, with accolades including being selected as the recipient the Sammy Cahn Lyric Writing award, joining past winners like John Mayer and Lori McKenna. Tullier has had songs recorded by country artists such as Tenille Arts, Stephanie Quayle, Sophia Scott, and a chart-topping Canadian duet with Tim Hicks and Lindsay Ell.
“I guess I’ve always been a late bloomer, but this feels right. I am excited to release music, play shows and introduce this side of myself that I guess was always there,” Tullier shares. “It took many baby steps to get here, but I am so proud of this project and ready for the next chapter in my career.”
Produced by Justin Klump, Baby Steps features some of Nashville’s elite including Jared Kneale on drums, Matt Utterback on bass, Devin Malone on electric guitar and cello, Blane Mitchell on synths, Dustin Ransom on celesta and synth on “Lesson”, with Klump offering acoustic guitars, banjo, synth, and electric guitars, and Tullier on piano and background vocals. Mixed by James Joseph and mastered by Dan Shike, it is a clean and warm sonic scape.
Baby Steps is a complete thought with a start and end, taking the listener on a journey through heartbreak and redemption, masterfully told only the way Tullier can. And it’s time for the world to take note.
