honoring Americas flagNASHVILLE, Tenn. The Journey Home Project, co-founded by country music legend Charlie Daniels, will support the local community for an awe inspiring tribute to the nation’s flag in remembrance of the real reason for Memorial Day. Volunteers will fill a one acre site with American Flags to honor those who’ve paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country by filling the lot with red, white and blue at the corner of East Division St. and North Mt. Juliet Rd. in Mt. Juliet, Tenn. The Journey Home Project, a not-for-profit organization that assists other not-for-profits in securing money, is proud to be a sponsor of the event.

The flag display will be available for viewing starting with the opening ceremony at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 27 and will remain on display 24 hours a day until the closing ceremony on Monday, May 30 (Memorial Day). The event is free and open to the public daily who can attend with family and friends to walk among the flags and experience the Spirit of America as they never have before. Cameras are welcomed, as are mementos to hang on sponsored flags.

“The Journey Home Project continues to support our community and returning veterans. Our involvement with this great event is another example of our dedication to strengthening the public’s awareness for returning veterans. We are always in support of our active-duty soldiers, veterans, and fallen heroes,” David Corlew said, co-founder of The Journey Home Project.

The Journey Home Project was founded in 2014 by country music legend Charlie Daniels and fellow board members David Corlew, Ed Hardy, and Joe and Mercedez Longever to raise and contribute funds and resources to those organizations that do the most good in making a difference in the lives of American patriots. As a result of funds raised through Daniels’ 40th Anniversary Volunteer Jam at the Bridgestone Arena on August 12, The Journey Home Project has been able to donate funds to help with the completion of the state-of-the-art Veterans and Military Families Center on campus at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), among various other fundraising events for veterans. This year’s Volunteer Jam on November 30 will bring Kid Rock, Larry the Cable Guy, Travis Tritt, and more to the Bridgestone Arena stage to celebrate Charlie Daniels’ 80th Birthday. Tickets to this event can be purchased here.
