“It’s based on an honest thought,” The Dryes told American Songwriter earlier this week. “We often want to receive love before we give it, but what would it look like if we loved the other person first?” Derek said. “Ironically if we step out of our feelings and love each other the way we know the other person wants to be loved, we will experience more love.” Katelyn agreed, adding that theme is summarized in one line in the song: “It’s so hard to give the things you wanna get / But I do when you don’t / and you will when I won’t.”
On Friday, July 17, The Dryes will appear on Nashville’s NBC affiliate station (WSMV-TV) for a performance of “YES” during the 11am CDT hour of “Today In Nashville.”
The new single follows the February release of the uptempo “Take You Dancin.’” Annie Reuter of Billboard noted “The Dryes kick things up a notch in its infectious new single.” Watch the music video for “Take You Dancin’” here.
