NASHVILLE, TENN. — Warner Music Nashville and Sweety High Country talent TEGAN MARIE is joining GIRL SCOUTS OF THE USA to kick off this year’s holiday season, taking part in the 92ND ANNUAL MACY’S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE® as the featured performer on the Girl Scout float.

A Girl Scout herself, Tegan Marie was chosen for embodying the “G.I.R.L.” (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ spirit and will highlight the organization’s commitment to preparing girls to lead on the “Building a Better World” float. As a role model and girl leader who is breaking barriers in music – she is the youngest female artist in 45 years to sign with a major Country label – Tegan Marie is committed to taking action and encouraging girls everywhere to be change-makers and leaders in their own communities and the world.

In 2016, she released “Lucky Me” to benefit children affected by the water crisis in her hometown of Flint, Michigan, and since then has continued to make giving back a priority through multiple charitable endeavors and awareness campaigns. Now the 15-year-old vocal stunner will become one of the youngest Country performers in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade history – and the youngest performer EVER on the Girl Scout float – as she helps celebrate girls “building a better world” through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

“I am super excited to share my voice on the Girl Scout float this Thanksgiving!” Tegan Marie says. “As a Girl Scout, it’s a dream come true to represent more than a million girls who are doing awesome things to change the world. I think all girls should be Girl Scouts so they can join me in making the world a better place.”

The 92ND ANNUAL MACY’S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE airs nationwide on NBC, Thursday, November 22, beginning at 9 a.m. across all time zones.

Meanwhile, The Tennessean premiered an intimate acoustic video for Tegan Marie’s empowering track “I Know How to Make a Boy Cry” (11/1). Read the exclusive story here. Co-written by Tegan Marie with veteran hitmaker Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift), the song promotes positive self-worth when young love goes awry, and its Elvis Presley-inspired official video has already been viewed more than 2 MILLION times on YouTube.

Tegan Marie is currently working on new music with Chapman and fellow studio ace Scott Hendricks (Blake Shelton), and later this year will step into the beloved role of Wendy for Lythgoe Family Panto’s PETER PAN AND TINKER BELL – A PIRATE’S CHRISTMAS at Nashville’s Tennessee Performing Arts Center. Making her theatrical-stage debut December 13th – 23rd, she’ll join a cast, which includes Disney Channel’s Garrett Clayton and Seinfeld’s John O’Hurley for a swashbuckling adventure performed in the high-flying style of a British holiday panto – filled with big laughs, magic, dancers and contemporary songs by everyone from Taylor Swift to the Bee Gees.
