NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The recent tragedy at the Route 91 Harvest Fest in Las Vegas was on the minds of performers and guests of the Oct. 5 performance of Nashville House Concerts with an all-star line-up joining co-hosts Storme Warren and Joe Denim to celebrate the healing power of music, resilience in the face of tragedy, and the importance of friends (even in low places).
Warren, who had co-hosted the Las Vegas event and spent the week recounting his experience, opened the show with an inspiring message, declaring “Music heals, let’s have fun!,” and introducing a breathtaking performance of the National Anthem by “Maestro” Dan O’Callaghan.
Nashville House Concerts, a new monthly music and variety series at War Memorial Auditorium, thrilled a packed house with extraordinary performances by Grammy® Award-nominated Country superstar Billy Currington, chart-topping Country icon Tracy Lawrence, SiriusXM Highway Finds artist and one of Rolling Stone’s “Artists You Need to Know” Ashley McBryde, comedian Tom Mabe and award-winning songwriter Kendell Marvel.
In a night full of hit songs and unique moments. McBryde and Marvel teamed up to tackle the songwriter challenge, writing a hilarious song from audience-suggested words like marmalade (suggested by a visitor from Ireland), fried bologna sandwich, frozen burritos and more.
Denim also paid tribute to rocker Tom Petty, who died last week at the age of 66, with a performance of “Into the Great Wide Open,” backed by the It Is What It Is Band, featuring Dink Harrell on bass (Toby Keith), Mica Roberts (Toby Keith) and Marty Slayton (George Strait) on background vocals, Sean Paddock (Kenny Chesney), Mike Durham and Rich Eckhardt (Toby Keith).
Keeping to the Nashville House Concerts theme of “You never know who’ll stop by,” surprise guest Earl Bud Lee, who famously penned “Friends in Low Places,” led the entire cast and audience in a spectacular, standing-ovation-inciting rendition of the hit to close the night.
Every performance of the monthly Nashville House Concerts showcases a diverse blend of talent from chart-topping artists, music legends, rising stars and accomplished songwriters and includes musical performances, imaginative interviews, surprise guests and unpredictably funny experiences.
Upcoming “house guests” include Kristian Bush, Love & Theft, Natalie Hemby, Waterloo Revival, Ray Scott, Jim Quick and more with individual show line ups to be announced soon.
Presented by Coca-Cola with partners Chef’s Market, Music City Light, NASH Icon 95.5 FM and NASH 103.3 FM, Nashville House Concerts take place on the first Thursday of each month through June 2018.
