CMT Mid-Season Finale Airs March 9
NASHVILLE, TN – Millions of viewers tuned in to “Nashville” last night as the grief-stricken cast paid their respects to the late Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton). With a short time to mourn, the ensemble quickly prepared for an tender tribute at the CMT Music Awards. Will Lexington (Chris Carmack) began with an upbeat rendition of “By Your Side,” written by Simon Gugala, Chance Peña. Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) shocked viewers – and proved she’s truly changed – after insisting Rayna’s daughter Maddie Conrad (Lennon Stella) take her place to perform “Sanctuary,” penned by tunesmiths Jill Andrews, Gary Nicholson, Sarah Siskind. Overcome with emotion from the crowd’s warm welcome, Maddie was joined on stage by her father Deacon Clayborne (Charles Esten) and sister Daphne Conrad (Maisy Stella), who blended their family harmonies to fittingly conclude the In Memoriam.
