Paul Bogart Covers Bill Withers’ Classic “Ain’t No Sunshine” With A Country Twist

Not just anyone could cover a classic like Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine” but traditional country artist Paul Bogart isn’t just anyone. Coming off his extremely romantic single “When She Gets A Hold On You” released this past June, Bogart is back with this spectacular Withers cover available today. “Ain’t No Sunshine” is the first single off his highly anticipated album Won’t Have Far To Go arriving November 13th.

An ionic song with an iconic voice, Bogart keeps “Ain’t No Sunshine” true at its core. The same melody and tempo meet classic country sounds of guitar and fiddle, while Bogart’s voice steals the show. One of the best in country music today, Bogart’s vocals adds depth to the lyrics as he sings and, much like Withers’ himself, brings forth a sense of melancholy as he wonders if his love will ever return, all while adding a little twang to make this cover his own. The song’s somberness is deepened by the weeping of the fiddle as Bogart sings those longing lyrics: “Wonder this time where she’s gone, Wonder if she’s gone to stay.”

“Ain’t No Sunshine” is available to download or stream here.

Won’t Have Far To Go is Bogart’s first album release since 2017’s critically acclaimed Leather.
