Old Dominion Showcase Ear Trumpet Labs’ Edwina Microphone on Arena Tour with New Song “One Man Band”

NASHVILLE, TN – Reigning ACM Vocal Group of the year and platinum selling country band, Old Dominion, continues on their sold out Make It Sweet Arena tour with a new song on the setlist and a stylish new microphone from Ear Trumpet Labs. The Portland, OR based boutique microphone company’s Edwina model was selected for a special intimate moment in the otherwise high-energy set to showcase the band’s new song “One Man Band.” The song speaks to wanting a partner in life and not going it alone, which is mirrored on stage as lead vocalist Matthew Ramsey is joined by lead guitarist Brad Tursi to share the Edwina microphone for vocal harmonies.

The large-diaphragm condenser is a perfect fit sonically, as Edwina excels as a single source microphone in a live setting. On selecting the Edwina, FOH engineer Ian Zorbaugh elaborates, “The show designer came to me looking for a ‘vibey’ microphone for two of our vocalists to sing into together. I wanted to give the designer a look he liked, while also achieving a sound quality that I was happy with. I’d heard great things about the sonics of all of the Ear Trumpet products, and obviously they have a very distinctive vibe.” He adds, “The Edwina sounds great – it has a very detailed, open sound while also being very stable. We use it at the end of a 40′ thrust well in front of the PA, so the stability was another key element in making this particular moment in our show a success.”

The design of the microphone was a match as well – with its distinctive looks the Edwina is memorable on stage while still keeping a low profile to showcase Ramsey and Tursi on vocals.

By highlighting the intimacy of the song the crowd has been extremely receptive. Lead singer Matthew Ramsey notes, “Playing a new song in our set comes with the risk of losing the full attention of our audience because they aren’t familiar with it. On top of that- it’s somewhat of a ballad. We wanted to make sure this song had its moment. When the light hits that microphone at the end of the stage, the crowd instantly knows something special is about to happen. So not only is it great sonically for catching the mix of Brad Tursi’s vocal and mine together- it just looks cool too!”

The Edwina retails for $599 and is available through their website www.EarTrumpetLabs.com.
