Band back in studio; new music expected in early 2017

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Members of RCA Nashville’s Old Dominion are still getting used to terminology like “Platinum single” and “certified-Gold album” when it comes to describing the success of the music the five-piece has released since forming the band of songwriters nearly 10 years ago. With seven No. 1’s notched for songs they’ve collectively written for others, the band’s success in their own right is something they admit they’re still getting used to– including their third single from Meat And Candy, “Song For Another Time,” which is currently sitting at No. 1 on both MediaBase and Billboard charts.

“When we went back into the studio to record ‘Song For Another Time’ to ensure it made Meat And Candy, we had initially pitched that song to Chesney to record,” shares front man Matthew Ramsey, who penned the tune with Old Dominion members Trevor Rosen and Brad Tursi and frequent collaborator, Matt Jenkins (co-writer on “Half Empty,” “Wrong Turns” and “Nowhere Fast” from Meat And Candy). “It was one of the first times I can remember an artist telling us we needed to save a song for ourselves, so thanks Kenny!” Rosen adds, “It definitely added something that we felt was missing on our album, and so to have it hit No. 1 feels really good as we trusted our instincts and as it turns out, they were right.”

The single follows their two-week No. 1 Platinum-selling debut “Break Up With Him” (the first song all five members of the band wrote together) and their Top 5 “Snapback.”

Old Dominion has already begun thinking about what’s next and are back in the studio with GRAMMY-Award-winning producer Shane McAnally working on new music slated for release in early 2017. Tursi shares, “We will never be able to truly describe what this album did for us and how everyone supporting it changed our lives.” Ramsey adds, “It’s an incredible feeling to be on the receiving end of this much love from the fans, our friends at radio, the songwriting and music community…we’ve learned there are so many people who have to be behind you in order to get to live this dream and to receive recognition like this with the validation of a No. 1 on the charts, and to each and every one of them, we want to say ‘thank you.'”
