Nashville Legend Ralph Emery Remembered by Country Music Giants Bobby Bare, Randy Travis, Mickey Gilley and Jerry Lee Lewis

“Ralph was a dear friend of mine from the late ‘50s – he used to broadcast every night from WSM out there on the hill. We – Roger Miller, Hank Cochran, me – would all be out roarin.’ I remember Roger saying ‘lets go to WSM and aggravate Ralph.’ Roger would do all his crazy stuff, I wouldn’t talk too much. Ralph was not only a good friend, but in my opinion the voice of Country music for decades. He had that ’network’ voice – the voice of God for our genre. He knew everything there was to know about everybody and everything. Of course we miss him and we all loved him.” – Bobby Bare, fellow Country Music Hall of Fame member and Grand Ole Opry member

“Ralph Emery represents the consummate encourager to so many new and promising artists—especially mine, back in the day. His influence and belief in me, proved to be a game-changer in my career. The namesake of The Ralph Emery Show gave me the confidence to “run,” not walk, down the path that I had chosen. He elevated me as a youngster in Nashville with the grit and the gift to succeed in the country music genre. Mr. Emery was there for me in the beginning; and, he was there for me until the end. I’m sure his motto was ‘you can’t use up kindness’. Ralph Emery affected Nashville, country music and countless lives with kindness, devotion and encouragement, like no one ever has… or, ever will again. My Forever and Ever thoughts and prayers are with Joy and the family, always.” – Randy Travis, Fellow Country Music Hall of Fame member and Grand Ole Opry member

“I am saddened at the loss of my friend, the great Ralph Emery. He was a superb interviewer. I did his show many times and he always loved my version of sweet “Honky Tonk Wine”. I will miss my friend …he was a real star in Nashville.” – Mickey Gilley

“My dear friend of many years, Ralph Emery, may you Rest In Peace. We will miss you. I have fond memories of our time together. God Bless your family.” – Jerry Lee Lewis
