The entire family at Mountain Home Music mourns the loss of our friend and colleague, Phil Leadbetter, and extends our deepest condolences to Lisa Leadbetter, Matt Leadbetter and the rest of the family.
“Dad has been so happy being part of the Mountain Home family,” Matt told us shortly before his father passed away, and we were equally happy that he had reached out to partner with us, beginning with the release of Masters of Slide: The Spider Sessions, the collection he curated and appeared on. Like him, we were eager to begin work on other projects that would contribute to his enduring catalog of recordings.
Phil made his mark on bluegrass not only as a distinctive and creative resonator guitar stylist, but as an enthusiastic, joyful presence whenever he was called upon to participate and wherever his love for the music took him. He will be remembered not only as a great musician, but as an inspiration to many and a great friend to all. Phil Leadbetter, rest in peace.
