Nashville, TN – Riser House/Columbia Nashville artist and Nashville native Mitchell Tenpenny hosted a live streaming concert and two in person shows on Saturday to raise money for his 10Penny Fund. The events raised $23,895.47 dollars including a $10,000 match from Sarah Cannon, the Cancer Institute of HCA Healthcare, his partner in the 10Penny Fund, and a $2,000 donation from labelmate and friend Chris Young.

“It felt so good to play again!” said Mitchell. “And everyone that came out did something good for someone else. Every penny will go to help families dealing with cancer.”

The day began at Noon with a live streamed concert and wrapped with two sold-out shows at Nashville’s Listening Room with a few of Mitchell’s songwriting friends Andy Albert, Ernest, Meghan Patrick and Dallas Wilson.

Saturday’s events were in lieu of Mitchell’s originally planned headline concert at the Ryman Auditorium. The concert is now rescheduled for Oct. 10, 2021. Go to www.mitchell10penny.com for more details.

Mitchell created the 10Penny Fund in 2018 to provide inspiration and to support programs that help build community, motivate patients and encourage healing for people facing cancer and their loved ones. Mitchell’s outreach grew from his own personal experiences dealing with his father’s cancer and what his family learned through the process. In 2019, he teamed up with the cancer experts from Sarah Cannon, the Cancer Institute of HCA Healthcare, to renovate the ‘Family Room’ at the Hope Lodge in Nashville.
