NASHVILLE – A plaintive steel guitar sets the tone for self-reflection in Matt Rogers new release, “Coal.” Rogers’ emotional delivery in the award-winning song invites the listener to look beyond the obvious to find the hidden value in the things that matter from a junked truck, a love story, and at the center of it all — faith. Listen HERE.

Rogers mines emotional bedrock in “Coal,” which is the title track of his upcoming Vere Music release, available March 18. Hailed for his raw, country-at-heart/blues in his soul style, the record produced by Colt Capperrune is a collection of self-penned songs that deftly broach the expanse of sentiment from love won to love lost.

The award-winning songwriter provides an unfiltered look at a variety of relationships with gripping lyrics and unmistakable melodies including his debut single “Fallout,” about the painful aftermath of heartbreak; the trust-testing “Be Like Him”; father/son bonding and deeper lessons in “Thunderbird”; and “Hurt Like You,” a searing duet about the intersection of longing and regret. The Georgia-bred artist is at his best when exploring relationships and the deep pangs of the heart.

“I’m drawn to songs that express the granular emotion of a moment,” said Rogers, who was heralded as “brutally relatable” by American Songwriter. “They are emotional at their core.”

The Durango Boot ambassador has reached a growing, global audience performing weekly since 2018 at Ole Red in Nashville and an extensive tour schedule across the U.S. Rogers recently announced his 2022 spring tour dates with stops in Savannah, Columbus, Evansville, Milwaukee, Columbia, and more. See the full schedule HERE.

On stage, Rogers has created a meaningful bond with his listeners through his gripping lyrics and unmistakable melodies, but he is equally at home in the writers’ room penning songs with some of the best tunesmiths in Music City and winning numerous awards.

Rogers has been releasing music since moving to Nashville in 2017 including his critically acclaimed sophomore EP, Richest Place On Earth. His single “Peaches and Pecans” from the project pays homage to the Peach State and was a popular anthem at University of Georgia home games at Stanford Stadium during their 2018 standout football season. In 2019, Rogers’ buzz-worthy single “Burn The Boat” made waves when it landed on Buzzfeed’s “Top 10 Hottest Country Summer Jams” alongside songs by Luke Combs and Carrie Underwood.
