MacKenzie Porter Earns 2021 JUNO Award Nomination in Country Album of the Year Category

PORTER CAPS OFF 2020 WITH 3 #1 COUNTRY SONGS AND A PLATINUM POP SMASH

CURRENT SINGLE “DRINKIN’ SONGS” MOVES FIVE SPOTS THIS WEEK TO #5
ON BILLBOARD CANADA’S COUNTRY AIRPLAY CHART

TORONTO, ON. — As her current single “Drinkin’ Songs” sails into the Top 5 on Billboard Canada’s Country airplay chart, Alberta’s MacKenzie Porter is celebrating her second ever JUNO nomination in the Country Album of the Year category for her 2020 EP release Drinkin’ Songs: The Collection. This nomination follows an incredible year of record-breaking milestone after milestone for Porter; and a year in which she cemented her status as Canada’s multi-format artist to watch.

“To have the most incredible year of my career end with a JUNO Awards nomination, is completely mind-blowing,” said Porter from her home in Nashville. “I feel so proud and grateful for the opportunity to celebrate this career milestone with the best team an artist could ask for and cannot wait to get back to Canada to celebrate with everyone who has made this success possible.”

Earning crossover success last summer with the release of her PLATINUM pop smash “These Days (Remix),” Porter also celebrated her third consecutive #1 single at Country radio in July with “Seeing Other People”.  Overall, Porter was the #1 Most Played Canadian artist on Canadian Country radio (Mediabase 2020 Big Picture chart), and had the #1 Most Played Canadian Country song (“These Days”) as per Billboard Canada’s 2020 Year-End All-Format airplay chart.

In addition, “These Days (Remix)” hit Top 10 at all 3 Canadian pop formats and held at #1 for 4 weeks on the Billboard All-Format Canadian Top 50 in 2020, making her the first Canadian country female to score a mainstream Top 10 hit since Shania Twain.

2021 will see Porter celebrated in CMT’s elite sisterhood of tastemakers and trailblazers as one of their Next Women of Country (Class of 2021) and as part of Pandora’s 2021 Country Artist to Watch list. She is hard at work on new music now, with hopes of returning to the stage by the end of the year.
