Kory Quinn to Release His Newest Album “The Blueroom” Available Everywhere May 12

Houston, TX – “The Blueroom” (Anthemic Americana) is Kory Quinn’s return to his roots in the midst of upheaval. It is a compendium of old songs re-imagined, new ones not yet put to tape, and a few covers. Two singles have been released to date. “OxyContin Blues” (03.12.20 Adobe & Teardrops), and “Bound For Glory” (04.13.20 Americana Highways) have both premiered. A third single “Stealin’” is set to be released with a video on (05.05.20).

“The Blueroom” is unrehearsed. The songs were chosen on the spot, one right after the other in quick succession. All the songs took one or two takes with Mike Coykendall at Blue Room Studio (Portland, OR). The songs were mixed and sent to Jon Neufeld at Treehouse Mastering (Portland, OR) that day. Kory did the cover art.

“The Blueroom” documents the end of an era. It was a year ago that Kory had accepted an opportunity in Houston, TX. This meant a big move! His newly wed wife and him were to leave the 200 acre Christmas Tree farm in rural Oregon as well as a decade of dedicated life behind. Kory had spent the last chapter based in Portland working himself up from living out of his car.Even having several jobs (teaching, coaching, barbacking, live music, etc.) he was able to tour constantly (200+ shows a year) and produce a deep collection of recordings that span 6 of his own releases as well as dozens of other artists’ projects as a freelance booking agent, designer and sound engineer (live/studio).

Shortly after announcing the decision to move, Kory received a phone call from his great friend and harmonica player David Lipkind ( Rose City Kings ). David had accumulated some studio time with Mike Coykendall ( Blue Room Studio, Portland, OR ). David wanted to give Kory the time he had built up. Thus the project was born; out of goodwill. They both thought it best because of time constraints, to capture as many songs as possible. The recordings include the most recent incarnation of Kory’s band “The Company”. Enter Julio Appling (stand-up bass) & Joe Suskind (lead guitar).
