This Friday, August 27th, eclectic-country artist Katy Hurt is set to release “Face to Face,” a single that is the product of songwriters stuck at home listening to old music.

“I had originally planned to release an album last year but then everything changed,” says Katy. “It felt like the whole world stopped turning. This past year has been really REALLY hard, for so many people, for so many different reasons and we all collectively had to face something the likes of which we had never seen before. All the plans I had made for music and tours were cancelled, I starting working in a pharmacy and lost a family member. I haven’t been able to see my parents since Christmas, I haven’t seen my Grandpa in over a year and all the rest of my family in over 18 months. I also haven’t been able to see any of my fans either.

So this song is a little bit different, it’s not from the album, it is the product of being stuck at home for too long, listening to a lot of old music, doing livestreams and watching too many old movies. One night when we were feeling really down in the dumps about the state of things Gab and I sat down and wrote what we were feeling, we remembered the warmth that those old Vera Lynn songs brought people during times of hardship and how appropriate it felt today. It was recorded from our home studio, and from the home studios of our friends across the world.

Things have started to get back to normal, but it’s not over yet and we will always have the scars from what we’ve all experienced. We will also never forget those we have lost. This song is my message to you, for you. I hope that you find some comfort in it the way that I have. It will be released the day before my first, full band show this year, and I cannot wait to see you all again… Face to Face.”

“Face to Face” hit country radio on August 21st, and will be available to download/stream on Friday, August 27.  Click here to pre-save.
