New Single Out Now

Today, the Josh Abbott Band releases new single “Barstool Boys.” A honky-tonk anthem celebrating friendship and living life to the fullest, the song caps off the summer on a foot-stomping, glass-raising high note. Yesterday, Taste of Country featured the song, lauding it as a “working man classic.”

“The day I wrote this with Erik Dylan and Josh Kiser, I knew we had a heater on our hands,” shares Josh Abbott. “We first recorded this with a different intro, but I told the band I loved the energy of the live harmonica solo, and I wanted to start the song off with that same energy. We’ve been sneaking ‘Barstool Boys’ into our set for a couple months now, from Texas to California, from Minnesota to the U.K.! And every single time people are jamming out and asking about the song afterwards on social media. We’re fired up to get a banger out just in time for football season, and like the song says: ‘Bet your ass I’m gonna bet the over!’”

Earlier this summer, the Josh Abbott Band released new music for the first time since 2020’s The Highway Kind, outside of collaborations and a 2021 holiday EP. “Country Nights” honored the simple pleasures of country life, while “My Dad And His Truck” was a poignant dedication to Abbbott’s late father. The singles garnered attention from CMTCountry CentralWhiskey RiffHoller and more.

A staple in the Texas music scene since forming in 2006 at Lubbock’s Texas Tech University, the Josh Abbott Band has become an icon in the Lone Star State thanks to numerous successful singles and albums over the last decade plus. The group’s relentless on-stage attitude quickly made it a successful touring act, building out from a Texas band to a regional act to a national crew with a devoted following from coast to coast. Over the course of their career, the group has earned two top 10 debuts on the Billboard country albums chart, two RIAA Certified Gold singles, two top 40 hits including features with Kacey Musgraves and Carly Pearce and upwards of 235 million streams.

The Josh Abbott Band is Josh Abbott (vocals, guitar), Austin Davis (banjo), Edward Villanueva (drums), David Fralin (keys, band leader), Jimmy Hartmann (bass), Kris Farrow (electric guitar), Cale Richardson (electric guitar) and Adam Hill (fiddle). The band is currently on tour with upcoming shows across Texas and the West before a handful of dates with Dierks Bentley and Parker McCollum later this year.
