“Find A New Home” Sung By Will Banister in New Clint Eastwood Film “Cry Macho” Impacts Shazam Charts

Nashville, TN – Clint Eastwood’s latest film “Cry Macho” opened in theaters and debuted on HBO Max on September 17th.  The following week “Find A New Home,” sung by independent country music artist Will Banister, came in at #2 on Shazam’s country music chart and also appeared in the top half of the service’s United States Top 200 chart.  This week the song is #2 on Shazam’s Discovery chart.

Find A New Home” was specifically written by Grammy-winning film composer Mark Mancina.  The song is a crucial element of the film, a classic country and western tune that perfectly captures the tone of the story. From start to finish, the lyrics follow the main character’s rather sad circumstances towards a hopeful conclusion that “it’s never too late to find a new home.”

Will Banister is a country music artist from Portales, New Mexico who got a life changing phone call straight out of the clear blue sky.  The film’s composer, Marlon Espino, shared a mutual friend with Banister who suggested that the wholly traditional, deep-throated crooner would be the perfect voice for the song. Banister recorded a rough vocal track at his home that was presented to Eastwood.  Upon hearing the track Eastwood commented, “That guy’s voice is from the top of those speakers down to your feet.”  They had found their perfect singer and the decision was made to keep the version of the song just the way it was with no re-recording needed.  “Find A New Home” is played during the opening scene of the film, and in its entirety during the ending credit roll.

The song is also included in the film’s soundtrack available on all digital music platforms.
