Exclusive Video Premiere: Ken Domash “Imagining”

“Hearing the song is one thing. The video takes the song a step further than the lyrics… This fun summer song capturing young love and what could have been, is answered on screen with my wife appearing with me in the final frames completing this young love story. The actors fade to the current day.”
– Ken Domash

Young love, first love, unattainable love, crushes – we’ve all had them. And we’ve had those moments when you are with that person, and you can imagine what your future looks like with them in it.  Sometimes cupid strikes and we actually get to bring those thoughts into reality with that very person. Ken Domash is one of those lucky guys. But while he was able to find that desired love, that doesn’t mean he has forgotten all those memories ago when he was “Imagining” – the title of his latest single.  Available for streaming and download March 1 (pre-save here), Domash is premiering the track’s personal music video today with The Country Note.

Her and me just her and me
Holding hands and dip’n our feet
Her and me just her and me
Suntan lines and them cut off jeans
And all the things that we could have been
I was imagining

Traveling down memory lane, “Imagining” shares the story a specific summer when Domash spent time with a special girl down on a dock, while memorizing every laugh and eye sparkle as they talked, and his attempts to keep the moment going even though her mom called for her to come home. His lyrics paint a vivid picture, making it easy for you to put yourself in that place in your own past, while the video takes it another step.  “We searched for a way to make the video give the viewer a little more than the song lyrics,” says Domash. “The song doesn’t say that I get the girl. But in my imagination, all of the songs lead back to her (my wife).”

But it’s not just the lyrics that are personal to this independent country artist – it’s literally every fiber, every item of the video that has a connection to Domash, his wife, and their family: “The video is very close to me.  It has so many parts of me, and my life memories threaded throughout. The radio in the song is my first radio that my sister got for me when I was a teen. The polaroid camera is my parents’ camera from the 70’s. The blanket is from my parents. For some reason I associate it with my Mom. And I’m wearing my Dad’s belt buckle in the video. He’s always with me, but it means a lot to me for some reason to wear his stuff. The glasses worn by the actor playing a younger me are my first “cool” sunglasses – saved all these years. And the tackle box is from my Father-in-Law. Literally trying to pack the video full of love. And my wife is in the video and helped with all of it. I hope everyone feels the emotions and memories coming through the screen.”

The final piece to tell this love story was to find actors to play Domash and his wife, and the crew to bring it to life: “Working with young actors to play an early version of myself and my wife was a blast! They were great! And having my wife involved in the process and appearing in the video was incredible! The film crew and producers made it super fun. Everyone made it special.”
