Exclusive Premiere: Katie Cole “Time On My Hands” Music Video

“And all I’ve got is time on my hands”

As the gentle picking of a guitar introduces a scene of trees resembling the woods that Snow White runs through – branches like arms, trunks like faces – an instant sense of melancholy is felt before the incredibly talented Katie Cole sings a note. The alt-country Nashville-based, Australian-born artist recently decided to revisit “Time On My Hands“, the first single off her solo EP Things That Break Part 1 released in 2018. Fast forward almost 2 years and the song has taken on a bit of a different meaning given the global pandemic and how our lives have had to adjust, including Cole’s as concerts, tours and festivals have been canceled.  Hence her decision to release this beautiful and haunting video directed by Linda Strawberry (long time collaborator for the Smashing Pumpkins) premiering exclusively with The Country Note today.

“It seems like the most obvious moment right now to share this type of song,” explains Cole. “It’s about heartbreak or in a simple sense, the loss of someone or something. The lyrics talk about how time is sometimes the only healer. Whether you wait it out, pray it out or just surrender. Hurt is immovable. Sometimes this type of heartache cannot be undone, just endured.”

“While we are all still in some sort of quarantine or isolation, we are probably all doing a little too much over thinking or running over past events,” she continues. “This emergency makes us plan our futures and re-think our past. I believe this song can serve as part of the soundtrack to this very difficult moment in our history. Just seems more relevant now more than ever.”
