While Halloween may be only a few days away, Georgia native Brian Callihan is already in the Christmas mood, releasing his stunning rendition of Keith Whitley’s classic “There’s A New Kid In Town” this Friday, October 29th. The fourth release off of the upcoming Christmas collaboration A Honky Tonk Christmas, the single features an incredible duet by Callihan and CMA’s first-ever female ‘Musician of the Year’ Jenee Fleenor and is premiering exclusively with The Country Note today.
A Honky Tonk Christmas EP, set for release later this fall, features a wonderful collection of country Christmas tunes performed by some of country’s top singer/songwriters including David Adam Byrnes, Curtis Grimes, William Michael Morgan and Holly Tucker and features guest performances by Fleenor, Doug Stone and Darryl Worley. Each artist selected their favorite country Christmas song to cover, and with so many choices out there, one would think the decision to pick one would be difficult. That, however, was a no-brainer for Callihan.
“Keith Whitley is a big inspiration of mine,” says Callihan. “So when it came to picking a Christmas song to record, I knew I wanted to do an original of his. ‘There’s A New Kid In Town’ was the perfect fit.”
