Exclusive Premiere: Brecken Miles “Meghan” Lyric Video

If there was one thing that everyone can agree upon, it would be that 2020 was not the year anyone expected. The COVID-19 pandemic created multiple disruptions in so many lives, most of which are not for the better. Sickness, loss of life, loss of jobs, and loss of property and livelihood, such as venues and restaurants that have been around for 10 to 100 years, are now shuttered. People unable to go about their everyday lives suddenly had quarantine and do what they could from the walls of their home, and with those whom they shared those walls, but now in constant company for 24 hours, seven days a week straight.  Being in such close proximity for day son end could easily become a challenge for those who love each other unconditionally, but for those who already had a foot out the door before 2020, it was a true test of love.  That was the test that country singer Brecken Miles and his wife Meghan were faced with, and their story can renew faith in love in everyone.

Between my artist career, a part-time job and a city touring business in Milwaukee, we found ourselves like two ships passing in the night, explains the Wisconsin native. “Add to it, raising a toddler and we just got lost. Then the pandemic hit and it forced us both home. It gave us time to reflect on how crazy life had become and how important it was for us to reconnect.” (Watch the Behind the Song video here)

With so many emotions from happiness, to pain, to anger and back to love, Miles knew their story was a story that had to be shared.  On a trip to visit his close friend, publisher and co-writer Melissa Bollea Rowe, the two sat down and wrote what would become the song “Meghan.”  The lyrics flow with such honesty as you go through the different waves of feelings experienced by this couple: the love, the blame, the self doubt, and the realization of the need to hold on:

But like a tidal wave
stronger than a hurricane
My love for you is just as true
As it was the first day
but sometimes it feels like chasing the wind
trying to hold onto you Meghan

Produced by Larry Beaird (Dolly Parton, Billy Dean, Mark O’Connor) and featuring Goose Gossett on background vocals, “Meghan” was released as a single on September 11, and today Miles is exclusively premiering the official lyric video with The Country Note.

“‘Meghan’ is the realist song I have ever written,” says Miles. “It encompasses all the pain, emotion and undying love that one has for another.”
