Fresh from beginning a new venture with Nashville heavyweight Rick Barker (best known for managing Taylor Swift), the ISSA Male Vocalist Of The Year Danny McMahon is back with his latest offering in the form of “Better Like That.”
The story behind the song is an exciting and innovative one. Written with rising Norwegian Country Artist Daniel Borge, Danny recently held a VIP Zoom party where his 50 most engaged fans picked their favorite song from a shortlist of four. The overwhelming winner was “Better Like That.”
The song encompasses a contemporary Modern Pop Country vibe with re-contextualized 80’s drum production and smooth guitar work.
This in turn creates a familiar yet fresh sound that creates the foundation for McMahon to help the melody soar.
“Better Like That” tells the story of a young man desperate to get back a woman he truly loves, whilst reminiscing in a pool of visual nostalgia.
McMahon states:
“This song has already been on such a journey and it’s not even out yet. It was originally pitched to an up and coming duo in Nashville, but when they decided not to go for it, I was instantly sure I was having the song because I believed in it so much. There was something about the vibe and feel that just gave me an instant buzz. I also loved the process of trusting the people who know my music best to pick this as the single. The overwhelming reaction was awesome, and I love that they’ve been able to be a part of the whole journey right from the start. My fan base has such a community vibe, and this has elevated that to a whole new level.”
