Nashville, Tenn. – While the events of 2020 have caused many artists to slow down, 23-year-old independent artist Conner Sweet is kicking his career into high gear. The Tennessee-native is already making a name for himself with his debut single, “Times Like These.” Just this week, the single jumped to the Top 20 spot on the Music Row Chart. Additionally, the song scored a Top 40 on the Nielson Country Indicator Chart, peaking at #36.

Co-written by Sweet, Lance Carpenter, and Liz Hengber, “Times Like These” is a song about leaning on each other, supporting those around you, and trusting and finding faith to get you through the difficulties that life throws at you.

Sweet spoke about the inspiration behind the song, saying “It happened so organically. I went to my writing session like I always do. I walked in and the mood was a bit heavy that day. It just happened to be around the time the tornado hit Nashville, one co-writer was dealing with an illness in the family and the other co-writer was going through some challenges too.  We decided that we didn’t want to write about how awful things were. We wanted to write something uplifting that would inspire people to reach out to the people they cared about, lift them up, and remind them that they’re loved. When I cut it, it just felt right. My only hope for this song is that it does what it was intended to do: lift people up.”

“Times Like These” is now available worldwide on all digital streaming platforms.

Born and raised on the outskirts of Nashville, Sweet comes from a long line of singers and musicians, so it was only natural that music would be a main passion in his life.

The authenticity of Sweet’s traditional country style reflects early influences by country legends such as George Jones, Johnny Cash, and George Strait as well as some of his current favorites Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, and Thomas Rhett. Writing songs since he was 16, he signed his first publishing deal in 2019 with Given Entertainment. His days are spent writing and performing for a solid fan base that has been built from live shows where he and his band are regulars on the Nashville circuit. “I wake up every day grateful that I get to write songs and make music for a living. It’s what I have always dreamed of, and I know, regardless of the size of the stage, I will always be on one somewhere.”
