CMA of Texas Honors Bobby Marquez As Cowboy/Western Artist of the Year

First-ever Award Honors Father-In-Law’s Tribute Song

NASHVILLE, TN — The CMA of Texas has revealed their 2018 award recipients. Bobby Marquez makes history as the first recipient of the Cowboy/Western Artist Award. The award is in recognition of Marquez’s tribute to his father-in-law who passed away from pancreatic cancer this spring. “The Cowboy Way” was produced by Western Music Hall of Fame member Rex Allen Jr. This is Marquez’s first attempt at songwriting outside of his signature honky-tonk sound. Within a week of the release, the song was named the theme song for the Gene Autry Museum Festival in Oklahoma.

Marquez says, “This song was truly a gift, not only for me, but for my family. I will forever see my father-in-law, so proud, as he witnessed a standing ovation for that song I wrote for him. This award will mean more than anyone could ever know.”

This year’s event will be held at Mo’s Place in Katy, Texas on Wednesday, October 25, 2017. Fans are welcome to the ceremony which will also honor Marquez’s producer, Rex Allen Jr. with the Living Legend Award and the Western Song of the Year “Where Are The Heroes.” The evening will include performances of the best in Texas music.

The Country Music Association of Texas has previously awarded Bobby Marquez the Independent Artist of the Year Award in 2015.
