CJ Solar Records “When The Saints” for 19Thanks

Louisiana Campaign Celebrates Front Line Workers

Nashville, Tennessee – Baton Rouge native CJ Solar is a proud Louisianan to the core, and he jumped at the chance to record “Oh When The Saints Go Marching In” for 19Thanks, a campaign celebrating the state’s front line workers. The collective tribute applauds essential workers in song and with ringing of bells – or clanging of pots and pans – 19 times on the 19th of every month at 1900 hours (7 p.m.). CJ’s version of the legendary song can be heard HERE.

“It’s an honor to be a part of this amazing campaign,” said CJ. “I want to give a big thank you to the Louisiana men and women in the health care industry helping kick COVID-19’s butt.”

The campaign is the brainchild of Baton Rouge business leader and philanthropist Deborah Sternberg who wanted to turn the numbers associated with COVID-19 into a positive. To date, 28 artists – including Jazz great Bransford Marsalis – college music professors, middle school choir directors and others have recorded versions of the beloved song. Words of encouragement and appreciation have been recorded by Kix Brooks, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Louisiana congressmen, senators, mayors and the governor. All of the videos can be seen HERE.

CJ recently released his much-anticipated Coming My Way EP, and his “Watered Down Whiskey” single continues to climb the national charts. He co-wrote all six cuts on the new EP, which follows his Get Away With It and Hard One To Turn Down EPs. He co-wrote “Watered Down Whiskey” with Charlie Berry and partnered with Smith Ahnquist, Brent Anderson, Jordan Brooker, Jacob Davis, Bob DiPiero, Mark Fuhrer, Jason Gantt,Michael Hardy, Neil Medley and Jake Mitchell on the other five songs. Check out the new EP HERE.

A native of Baton Rouge, CJ grew up with Country, Southern rock and Delta blues pumping through his veins. He has shared the stage with the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Chris Janson, Aaron Watson, Gary Allen, 38 Special, Hank Jr. and others. As a songwriter, CJ won a “Songs I Wish I’d Written” trophy from the Nashville Songwriter Awards for co-writing Morgan Wallen’s #1 hit “Up Down,” and Jason Aldean released the CJ co-written “I Don’t Drink Anymore.” He has had cuts by Jerrod Niemann, Justin Moore, Jameson Rodgers and others. Taste of Country named CJ as one of their “5 Country Artists to Watch,” and Rolling Stone Country listed him as one of their “New Artists You Need To Know.”
