Nashville, TN – Country Artist / Songwriter Chris Colston releases album and single, both titled “Boy Like Me.” The nine-track album was produced by Brandon Hood (Mackenzie Carpenter, Drake Milligan, Temecula Road). The Official Music Video for “Boy Like Me” premiered exclusively on PEOPLE Country yesterday.
“I’ve spent over a year and a half writing these songs and recording the album,” said Chris Colston. “This project is the most I’ve been involved as a songwriter and I’m pretty proud of that. I wanted to put together an album with songs that truly reflect who I am as a person. It has a variety of elements that I have personally experienced – all wrapped up into nine energetic and relatable songs. This album is going to tell the world exactly who Chris Colston is and I’m excited to get it out there.”
The single “Boy Like Me,” written by Colston, Kenton Bryant and Jordan Walker, is about the birth of his daughter, Emersyn. Colston and his wife Peyton welcomed their daughter this past May in Tyler, TX.
“Out of all of the songs I’ve ever written, I’m most proud of ‘Boy Like Me,’” said Colston. “This song is so special to me because it tells the story of how I met my wife and of our life leading up to the welcoming of our baby girl. I’m so proud of the beautiful life we’ve created and wanted to pay tribute to it through my music.”
“Boy Like Me” comes on the heels of success from his previously released singles “Livin’ Like This,” “Hate Me in My Hometown” and “Goodbye Gasoline,” – all included on the new album. While fans can expect some similarities to his previous music, Colston says the album captures some deeper subject matter that allowed him to be vulnerable as a songwriter.
