With the sounds and feels of summer in full swing, female country artist Chandler Stephens releases her new single “Boys of Summer” today. You may be thinking “Boys of Summer” sounds like a familiar title for a song and you would be right. Chandler’s new single is a cover of the Don Henley classic. With the unlikely twist of coming from a country female perspective, “Boys of Summer” is set to become the summer anthem of 2020.
“When my producer Dan Frizsell and I were discussing recording the songs for the new EP, I had the 5 songs that I had co-written. I loved them all so much, but he felt like we needed a 6th song so I mentioned doing an older rock song and he immediately threw out “Boys of Summer.” I knew it was perfect. Growing up in Florida and loving everything about the beach this song feels like the soundtrack of my growing up years. Taking on a Don Henley classic was a little scary but turned out to be one of the most inspiring things I have ever done. I want my music to have this kind of impact and longevity. Generations after generations know this song and love it which is the ultimate testament of what a great song “Boys of Summer” is in any genre.”
