Brandon Lay Selected to Vevo’s 2019 Artists To Watch List; Releases Two Vevo Performance Videos

It’s been quite a year for Brandon Lay.  He took a Trip Around The Sun with Kenny Chesney, opening all stadium stops on the highly successful tour, welcomed the role of fatherhood with the birth of his son Ryder Knox in September, and now the “Yada Yada Yada” singer is closing out the year as one of Vevo’s 2019 Artists To Watch, the annual culmination of Vevo’s year-round DSCVR program. Not only did Lay make the list, but he is the representative for the genre as the only country artist to make the list of twenty.

On Friday, December 7th, Vevo DSCVR Artists to Watch premiered two of the Jackson, Tennessee native’s live performance videos. The funky jam “For My Money” has Lay singing about a girlfriend who only wants him for his money, but little does she know he hasn’t made it “big” yet. He struggles with telling her the truth and instead hopes that by the time she finds out, he will have made it (“So if I fake it ’til I make it / If I keep her long enough / Maybe I can find some paper and we could really fall in love“). Check out the video below:

Switching gears, Lay’s “Miss & Tell” is from the point-of-view of a guy putting on the facade in front of his friends that all is ok after a pretty bad breakup. Even when George Strait comes on, he won’t admit to thinking about his ex, as “real men don’t miss and tell.”   With a touch of Kip Moore and Thomas Rhett, Lay performs the song perched on a stool, giving it an even more intimate feel while his band performs around him.
