Celebrates 60 Years Since His First Hit-Single “All-American Boy”
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – 60 years as a chart-topping artist and 83 years young, Bobby Bare shows no signs of stopping, playing a double-header on Sunday with performances at both CMA Music Festival and Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. The country legend began the day with his friend Bill Anderson sharing stories and swapping songs on CMA Fest’s Close Up Stage. He closed it out 70 miles outside of Nashville as part of the Grand Ole Opry performance at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, recalled in this Tennessean article, where he had the crowd screaming along to “Marie Laveau” and led Del McCoury and Old Crow Medicine Show on “Streets of Baltimore.”
“When you’ve been at it as long as I have, it’s kind of exciting to do two of the biggest festivals in the world on the same day. Bonnaroo, what a deal — a younger audience and very, very exciting. They had a lot of great talent on it and we had a big time,” said Bare. (audio available by request)
Bare has had quite the year, beginning with the release of a new album Things Change in May 2017 followed by two music videos, “Things Change” and “I Drink.” In April, on his birthday, he was welcomed back as a member of the Grand Ole Opry by Garth Brooks. Legendary western wear designers, HbarC honored him in May with a Bobby Bare 60th Anniversary Signature Series Shirt and there is much more to come.
