Nashville, Tenn. – Country artist Becca Bowen is bearing her truth with the release of “Son Of A Gun,” today, Friday, February 24. Premiering exclusively with People Country, Becca turns her personal experience with heartbreak into a no-nonsense, up-tempo song that is reminiscent of country music trailblazers like Shania Twain and Miranda Lambert. Co-written alongside her guitar player, Sam Woods, Becca is unveiling a new side of her artistry with this relatable track. Listen to “Son Of A Gun” here.
“I was singing at an event and I looked out in the audience and the guy I had been dating was with another girl. I was in shock but I kept it together and made it through the song. We both locked eyes from the stage and he just looked at me with these sad puppy dog eyes because he had just been caught,” Becca shared. “Needless to say after this I was angry and couldn’t believe the nerve of this man. So I ended up taking my feelings of disappointment and putting them into this song.”
Bowen has kicked off 2023 on a high note, with the music video release of fan-favorite “Glitter,” which premiered exclusively with Circle All Access and a dazzling television debut of “Son Of A Gun” on Nashville’s NBC-affiliate Today In Nashville. In addition to putting the finishing touches on an accompanying music video, Becca will be performing at Wishful Shuckers 2023 benefitting Make A Wish South Carolina on March 3.
Becca’s glamorous, Southern Belle exterior mixed with her bold and tomboyish personality and a love for the outdoor lifestyle prove the South Carolina native proudly lives up to her endearing nickname, “Country Barbie” which was first given to her by her passionate fanbase. Bowen exudes confidence in who she is – welcoming the juxtaposition of her look and personality, as showcased in the authenticity of her music. In 2020, Bowen released her debut single, “Love It, Leave It,” and was invited to compete in the Outdoor Channel’s popular reality show, For Love or Likes. She was named the winner of Season 5 in 2021, garnering a rapidly growing following and fanbase online, all eager for more music from the emerging star. With a multitude of singles released in 2022 including the unapologetic “Who I Am,” a female empowering anthem, “Glitter,” and “How It All Went Down,” as well as her debut album Like You’ve Never Been Loved, Bowen credits the country music greats before her for her musical inspiration, including Dolly Parton, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Shania Twain, and Reba McEntire.
