American Songwriter Exclusively Premieres Austin Merrill’s “One More Mile” Video

“One More Mile” Garners Over 100,000 Streams

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Country singer-songwriter and Foundry Records recording artist Austin Merrill’s new video for his latest single “One More Mile” is available now. American Songwriter exclusively premiered the video, which features the recording session for “One More Mile,” filmed on January 31, 2020 at Starstruck Studios in Nashville, Tenn. The video, “a scrapbook for one of the Merrill’s favorite things in the world (American Songwriter),” captures the creativity and camaraderie of musicians in a studio session with Merrill explaining, “To have a bunch of creative geniuses come in and contribute to my project is a dream come true every time it happens. I had written the main guitar melody prior to the session, but all the other band parts were created on the spot by some of the best musicians in Nashville. And Danny Rader slayed that acoustic guitar solo. My song was pure carbon, and those guys made it a diamond.”

Produced by GRAMMY Award-winning producer Mark Bright (Carrie Underwood), “One More Mile” has already garnered over 100,000 streams. Merrill initially wrote the song to pitch to another artist but loved it so much that he decided to record it himself. “One More Mile” follows Merrill’s debut EP, Whiskey & Water, released last spring and also written entirely by Merrill. The lead single “You’ll Come Knocking” was featured as part of CMT’s “Next Up Now” program, received placement on Spotify’s New Boots Playlist and has racked up over 600,000 streams, while the title track ranked Top 30 on the MusicRow CountryBreakout Chart.

Music has played an essential role in Merrill’s life from an early age, helping forge a strong sense of individuality and creativity in a multi-cultural family. Country music was family music for Merrill, and the influences of his favorite childhood artists such as Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, and Shenandoah, can still be heard in the music he writes and sings today. The Oregon native first came to Nashville as an award-winning upright bassist and accomplished sax player. After graduating from Vanderbilt University, Merrill followed another lifelong calling and joined the U.S. Army. He is currently finishing up his service as a Lieutenant in the Tennessee Army National Guard, recently spending his birthday serving during the Annual Training with his unit in Chattanooga, Tenn., and plans to release a new single to country radio this fall.
