While 2020 may not have Alyssa Trahan on the road and performing in front of live audiences, it has not slowed her down from putting out incredible music. New York native and now Nashville resident’s current single “Ain’t Ever Goin’ Back” is packed full of edge and sass and is a great lesson on never backing down. “Psychology” – her newest single available today – keeps the theme going.
“This song is for anyone who has had their heart played with like a toy,” says Alyssa. “They want you, they don’t. They love you, they leave you. It’s a constant cycle of back and forth. They may say they love you, but it’s really just their mind playing tricks. When I went in to record this song, I wanted it to be a jam with nostalgic vibes in the production. It’s definitely on the edgy/modern side but still has those traditional country elements like slide, banjo, and acoustic guitar to tie the sound together. I hope it makes people want to dance and leave the person playing with their heart for good!”
“Psychology” is all about the love mind games that some like to play when its convenient for them. When you were together, there was shady behavior and a lack of interest. Now that you are no longer together, you think you want her back especially when you see her out and about with another man. It always comes down to wanting something you can’t have, but you don’t really love her, its just psychology. Unfortunately for you, she realizes you don’t really want her, you just think the grass is greener on the other side. We appreciate the female empowerment Alyssa has in “Psychology”, realizing that this is not love in the end.
Entertaining and packed with Alyssa’s sass, “Psychology” also highlights Alyssa’s skills as a guitarist. The start of the track is very smooth with just her vocals and guitar, which allows Alyssa’s voice to be the main attraction. It allows you to focus on her solid vocal range and the charming sound of her voice. The background instruments keeps “Psychology” lively and contemporary, making this a single that will have you dancing and singing along.
