An award winning band from Galway, We Banjo 3 is an eclectic mix of high stomping Irish music, Bluegrass, Folk, and pop. Enda and Fegal Scahill along with Martin and David Howley are two sets of brothers who make up the band, are well versed in strings, brass, and percussion and have been on a whirlwind tour of the U.S. showcasing their skills and touting album, Haven.
Haven is a mixture of spoken and instrumental tunes that contain harmonious traditional Celtic folk with the subtle twang of Bluegrass, dubbing it Celtgrass. With several awards under their belt including Folk Awards Album Of The Year, #1 Billboard World Album Chart and Bluegrass Album Chart, WB3 has been touted as one of the best live acts out of Ireland. While the tour is set to go until Fall 2019, the band is releasing a live album aptly named from the tour itself Roots To Rise Live today, July 19, 2019.
Recorded live on February 27th and 28th at The Ark in Ann Arbor, the 14 songs on Roots to Rise Live consists of a few original pieces, unreleased fan favorites from shows, and covers creating a solid piece of high octane performances mixed with precise instrumental pieces and beautiful ballads.
Fans can expect a lot of clapping in rhythm to tantalizing mixtures of banjo, fiddle, violins, and more. The lyrical tracks are executed with sounds of natural storytelling and excellent vocals. The reasoning behind WB3’s acknowledgment as “the best live act” is evident on this album. The band is a must see live, but if you can’t, this album will take you there.
