Kentucky born and raised country artist J.D. Shelburne has been working hard on his latest album Two Lane Town, available today (7/28). J.D. has set out to write and create music that not only fans can relate to but will enjoy listening to with his recent album.
The lead track, “Born For This” was not only co-written by J.D., but holds a very special place in his heart. We’re all born to take our own path and find our own calling in life. For J.D. it was picking up a guitar and singing when he realized what his calling is. It didn’t matter what others thought he should be doing, because deep down J.D. knows he choose what he was born to do. It’s an incredible thing to not only recognize what your calling in life is, but to follow that dream.
J.D. captures the quintessential classic country sound in “She Keeps Me Up Nights”. A slow country tempo combined with J.D.’s ability to exhibit the tenacity in his vocals makes this a stand out song. “She Keeps Me Up Nights” represents all those girls who play the dating game by their own rules. Just as quickly as they come into your life, they’re out of it in a blink of an eye. They play hard to get and make sure they are always leaving you wanting more. You’re constantly question if it’s a good thing or bad thing, but you know without a doubt that she keeps you up nights.
“Stuck in my Memory” takes us to a sentimental place. The specifics of the all the memories are precise and fans will easily connect to them. When you get close to home you pick up on visuals that instantly remind you that you’re back home. Although you have moved on with your life, everything seems to be stuck in your memory. The good or the bad, they are all memories that make up the feeling of being home and nothing beats that feeling.
Two Lane Town is a feel-good album and J.D. did an outstanding job compiling songs that exhibit his solid vocal abilities. He keeps a constant theme throughout his songs that make them relatable and drum up those memories of your own childhood or dreams. Each track has its own classic country sound that current country music has been missing. That country sound and the lyrics J.D. brings on the album will be appreciated by fans, both old and new.
